I heard hayy sing back in the late 70′s. I’ll never forget that performance. What a great artist! His little boy was still in diapers at the time.

@baadddrx7
Well what about “Five For Fighting”?
My father just died a few months ago. Our relationship was the opposite of this in that I always tried to make time for him, but he never could make enough time for me…
I love this song!!!!
my dad used to work constantly, to give me a better life than he had!!
He passed away when i was 17!!my biggest regret was not being able to share a drink in a bar with him!
everytime i hear this song it brings a tear to my eye!
R.I.P Dad, gone but never forgotten!!!!xxx
One of my favorite songs I sang it and cried and sang it some more. How my life was much like this song with both parents. It taught me to be a better parent than the ones I had. Thanks Harry Chapin.
Being in Iraq is tough. Man, I never though a song could bring on such strong emotions but this one hurts. I miss my boy everyday.
Time and time again we realize that the apple never falls far from the tree….no mattet how much one might feel that they will never do what was done to them….you can’t fight the genetics involved….we are who we are…and this songs tells the story so beautifully.
Bravo!!!! we’ll miss you Harry Chapin
@johnboy22246 Harry Chapin wrote this song for his son
@cutiecatgirlxx nope cat stevens wrote this song!!
I knew Harry personally and got to see him perform several times before his untimely death in July of 1981. He was tireless and one of the most decent human beings ever to walk on the planet. Harry, John Denver, and Jim Croce were all taken from us far too soon, but thank goodness they all left their legacy in their music.
Saw Harry at Applachian State back in early ’70′s ~ miss him so much
he kinda looks like robert pattinson
one of my favorite song!!! R.I.P Harry…
@cutiecatgirlxx His wife wrote the lyrics; Harry wrote the music and recorded it after their son was born so yes, it is the original.
Yes it was
“NSFW”– unless you don’t care if co-workers see you crying.
I saw a video of his son and his wife talking about cats in the cradle omg his son is a spiting image of harry .. rip Dad my dad died at the age of 55 ..
his wife has a piano bar in San Diego still open in his name
It’s great to see this wonderful, heartfelt song get so many views. I’m very glad that we have utube around so that we can share great music from days gone by. I am also thankful for Idol, Glee, Simpson, South Park, and other shows that steer younger generations to seek out this special songs. Thanks bagnon for posting!
This song gives me chills.
